Carl Cox is a British techno and house DJ and producer from Oldham, Greater Manchester. He is one of the biggest and most highly regarded names in techno. His genres of expertise include techno, tech house, house, as well as minimal techno. Additionally, Carl Cox has also made a phenomenal contribution to the acid house music scene.
Carl began experimenting with beats at the age of 15. During this time, he started working as a mobile DJ, and eventually discovered that his passion lies in disco music.
The 1980s were the ultimate turning point for this exceptional artist’s music career, as he built a fanbase and established himself as the electronica industry’s mainstage DJ in these years.
Carl Cox founded his own music label called Intec Records in the year 1999 and re-launched this label as Intec Digital in 2006. Just recently, this techno sensation has publicly announced that he has partnered with the popular record label BMG as one of their major recording artists.
In 2022, Carl Cox hosted his own night at DC10 under the name Carl Cox Invites, which took place in July and August. The event was a massive success and invited names such as Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Clara Da Costa, Steve Bug, KiNK, Matador, Kollectiv Turmstrasse, Surgeon and many more. Carl Cox also performed many live sets during these months.
The techno star has also been a regular at some of Ibiza’s most notable events and parties, such as Music On and Resistance. Music On has regularly witnessed Carl Cox perform in the past few years amongst other stunning artists like Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Joseph Capriati, Ilario Alicante and The Martinez Brothers. Carl is also a regular at Resistance; in 2019, the techno legend was seen performing with other great names like Sasha, Eats Everything, Charlotte de Witte and Jamie Jones. (please note that Resistance parties have not run for 3 years now and Privilege remains closed)
In 2001, he partnered with the Space Ibiza nightclub (now Hï Ibiza), where he started hosting his own party called Music is Revolution every summer up until 2016, when Space closed down. Carl’s last set took place on 20 September 2016 where he finished with a 10 hour vinyl and CDJ set.
Unfortunately, Carl Cox did not play anywhere in Ibiza in 2023, and his return in 2024 is still unknown, but we have high hopes. Keep an eye out for further updates or subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of the page.
The skillful techno artist and producer has won a number of different awards and acknowledgments. Carl has won the famous Best International DJ Award 3 times, the Best Techno DJ Award an impressive 6 times, and the Best Ibiza Club Night award once.
The DJ Magazine Awards have also ranked Carl Cox #1 for their World’s Top 100 DJs award in the years 1996 and 1997. He also earned the No.1 Rave DJ award in 1992 as well as the DJ of the Year awards in 1994 and 1995 and the Best DJ Award in 1996 (presented by the International Dance Music Awards). In 2001, the artist also won the Best Club DJ Award at the NME Awards. In 2018, he bagged the Best Male Artist (Underground) award and in 2020, he was awarded the Best Male (Techno) award, both presented by the International Dance Music Awards.
