INTRODUCTION
From house and techno to R&B, Marc Kinchen, also known as MK, is a DJ and producer from Detroit, USA. The town he grew up in, Motown, was rich in musical incubation and produced hometown techno legends, such as Kevin Saunderson. MK is said to be the “man of the moment” when it comes to deep house music and is loved by party fans across the globe.
MK’s success is showcased in over 500 titles that take his name and make it a part of their signature style. From underground aficionados’ secret dance floor weapon to iconic worldwide hits, MK has been an inspiration for all struggling DJs out there.
Initially, when MK started to make a mark in the electro world, his focus was transformed to expand further than deep house and he moved into techno, hip-hop, R&B, and then, ultimately, pop. In recent years, MK has been concentrating on house music.
During this period, he experimented with his skills and collaborated with a wide variety of talent like Ellie Goulding, Pharrell, Diplo, Sam Smith, Rudimental, and many more. This eventually led him to come back into dance music not just as a DJ, but also as a producer. This made him one of the most popular house DJs across the globe.
INVOLVEMENT IN IBIZA
At the party island of Ibiza, MK can usually be seen lifting the spirit of popular parties like Defected and Together. Defected has been home to a line-up of MK along with many other talented DJs like Gorgon City, Monki, Sam Divine, and Basement Jaxx. At the superclub Amnesia, MK breathes life into the party Together along with celebrity DJs like Major Lazer, DJ EZ, Diplo, Shy FX and others.
MK has recently re-launched his iconic label and event brand Area10. Area 10 is a famous poolside house music fiesta hosted by MK, a spectacle that continues in summer at the famous Ibiza Rocks.
