INTRODUCTION
Tijs Michiel Verwest, known by his stage name Tiësto, is a Dutch DJ and record producer who has always strived to share his passion and love for electronic music. He started out as a trance DJ and then built his field of specialty along the way; he moved to EDM, future house and electro. Many eminent and credible sources regard him as the “Godfather of EDM”.
Tiësto has worked with many iconic record labels that host his work even today. His creations are associated with renowned labels like Musical Freedom, PIAS, Ultra, Atlanito, AFTR: HRS, PM: AM, Spinnin’, Universal, and many more.
In 1997, he also launched his own record label, Black Hole recordings, with Arny Bink. This label garnered a lot of popularity in a short time span and became a breeding ground for talented budding artists.
INVOLVEMENT IN IBIZA
The never-ending festivals and wild raves in Ibiza feature the best of the DJ industry. Tiësto has been actively involved in many of the crazy party seasons hosted on the party island.
He announced his residency at one of the hottest and luxurious party clubs in Ibiza, Privilege, back in 2008. Some of the legendary artists like Mat-Zo, Cosmic Gate, Alex Kunnari, Chris Lake, and Sander van Doorn have also played alongside him.
Tiësto was also a part of the star-studded line-up of Pacha, in 2012. He also performed in Ibiza in 2017 with Martin Garrix and gave his audience a night to remember.
Tiësto is back for summer 2023 at Ushuaia! The Dutch DJ will take over the day venue for 9 dates starting 4th of July! Full schedule below.
HITS & AWARDS
Tiësto has received several notable accolades and titles that are a testament to his successful career and talent. He was voted the Greatest DJ of All Time by Mix Magazine in 2010 and 2011 and in a poll conducted by the DJ Mag readers, he was voted Best DJ of the last 20 years.
He was also recognized as the World’s No.1 DJ by DJ Magazine for three years consecutively (2002 to 2004).
The highlight of his career has been his esteemed Grammy award nominations and win. Tiësto won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording in the Non-Classical Category. He also received a nomination for Best Dance / Electronica Album in 2008. Additionally, the artist also has a pending Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance/ Electronic Recording 2022.
The EDM sensation also bagged 7 TMF Awards (Belgium), 9 WMC Awards (Miami), 6 TMF Awards (The Netherlands), amongst several other prestigious titles.
Tiësto has created some remarkable tracks whose names are well known in this competitive music industry; these tunes soar in the most exclusive clubs and festivals. Among others, some of his most popular tracks are In the Dark, Just Be, Athena, Dance4Life, Break My Fall, In My Memory, and Lethal Industry.
