Techno

Techno is a genre of electronic music that originated in the city of Detroit and is typically played at 125-150 beats per minute. Techno music is composed using a fusion of synthesisers, drum machines, hardware sequencers, and multi-tracking. 

The techno genre is inspired by the concept of “techno rebels” such as Alvin Toffler and Teutonic electro-pop by Kraftwerk. The genre started off through a circle of DJ producers from Detroit — Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson — who began drawing attention with their music in 1985. The genre was add-onto Chicago House music. Tracks like Strings of Life and, No UFOs by Model 500 and Good Life by Inner City became the jams of European dance floors. Techno was introduced to vary from house as techno was primarily all-instrumental and the beats were much more layered and complicated. House is more disco-derived and consists of kick-drums.

There are many sub-genres of techno music (minimal, industrial, hard, acid, and more), and every DJ has their own individual style. The different types of techno you will get to experience depends on the DJ, party, venue, and time.

Although techno is not as popular in Ibiza as house, tech house or EDM, there are still some great parties going on every week that you can attend!
